Seedling

In the course of Eleven Days, the wee little seed of The HodgePodgery has grown into a seedling. The little seedling is identifiable as its own little entity, and is almost strong enough to be transplanted into it's permanent position on 3rd and Herr Streets in MidTown Harrisburg. The manuals for care and maintenance have been read, hobbyists and professionals consulted and the weather has been most cooperative. Perfect balance of sun and rain, light and dark, acid and alkaline, of course fertilizer will abound!

The motions are fluid. The lease is being signed this week, the quotes and estimates are in,
the financing is pending, the Business Plan is almost complete, and the marketing has begun!

We will be posting flyers, working Twitter, FaceBook, CraigsList, speaking to everyone we know! I am going to work at this blog so I can post a Calendar so you will know when our Crafting Calls are.

Crafting Calls are going to be informal meet and greets, where artists and crafters can bring samples or portfolios so we can figure out what can be put in our shop. REMEMBER PLEASE the FOCUS is on RECYCLED and REPURPOSED pieces! We will also accept all natural products that are eco-friendly. We all have to do our homework on this! We are still considering offering foodstuffs, but need to speak with the City to see what the feasibility is. Foodstuffs, meaning muffins, cookies, pastries, spice blends, coffees, teas, herbs, oils, ready to purchase, not necessarily made onsite.

We would LOVE to have something ArtsFest (Memorial Day weekend) if our contractor is done by then. That's pushing it, but it is doable. Maybe an indoor craft market to test out the space...and get people in.

STILL NEED SIGNAGE AND LOGO IDEAS!

We WILL have places to sit, (Cue the Furniture people = } ), snack, drink, bring in your lunch, and socialize. There will be wi-fi so you can come in with your iphone or laptop and brain-storm, or get away from the office.

So, retail, workshop, gathering place, wi-fi, idea incubator, and small business info. That seems to cover most things at the moment.

We are accepting all inquiries, samples, suggestions and well wishes with relish!

Yay!!

  1. hmmm-just tried to post this comment, but got an error,so I'll try again. I twittered you about my husband, Corey, who is a graphic and web designer and illustrator, if you still need logo and sign work done. He is awesome, and Tara of handmadeinpa.net would happily vouch for his talent. He is also a lover of all things crafty, and enjoys partnering with small, "real people" businesses. Also, he doesn't cost a million dollars ;) you can email me at alexmccarty@comcast.net if you want!
